Odisha DGP

Odisha is all set to create a new history towards women’s empowerment. As per the media report, It’s expecting a new Women DGP to take charge very soon. The Odisha Government is giving importance to Women in each power and position of the state. As Such 1989 Batch Women IPS Officer B. Radhika is leading the race for the post of new Odia DGP. If the State gives its nod to B. Radhika’s name, Then Odisha will get its First Women DGP.

Odisha’s current Director General Of Police Sunil Bansal will retire in December. So it will be a serious challenge for the state govt to set a new history in the new year, By appointing a prominent person in this highest post.

According to the reports 1988 batch senior IPS Manoj Chhabra is not in the race, because he will retire this month. Arun Roy another senior IPS, Who is currently working in OSD of the home dept. But the state govt is not satisfied with his performance, So his chances are very low. Also, 1989 batch-IPS Pranabindu Acharya is not in the race, he is retiring in May 2024.

Thus three prominent officers in the 1989 batch IPS and HRPC DG AM Prasad, Currently on Central Deputation B. Radhika and SM Naravane are the top runners for the top post.

As per the guidelines, The DGP is to be selected by the Odisha Govt among the top senior officers empanelled by UPSC based on their service terms, records and experience.

However, widespread speculation is there after picking the first women speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. So the state govt will go for the first women DGP to set a commitment to women’s empowerment. B. Radhika is currently on central deputation and posted as an additional DG of SSB, New Delhi. She is also the first women IPS officer of Odisha Cadre.

But Sources said Odisha Govt may extend the terms of the Sunil Bansal, As the general election is ahead.
